They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Amarius Mims slid further than he should have, and No. 34 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Jermaine Burton in the 68th overall pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 103 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jarrian Jones in the 137th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Isaiah Davis at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 180 is the definition of value, full stop. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A quiet steal in the 193rd overall pick: Jordan Jefferson for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Evan Williams was the payoff at slot 231. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
