The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Jamaree Salyer deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 5 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Fair-plus on Brian Thomas Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in the 37th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Edgerrin Cooper was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 4, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ricky Pearsall slid further than he should have, and slot 69 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Mike Sainristil at the 103rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A tidy little value on Ben Sinnott in pick 137, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Nice patience on Fabien Lovett, who had no business lasting to the 194th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Caedan Wallace at pick No. 231 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
