The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The cost of the Rosemy-Jacksaint reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Morgan steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
In slot 27 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Patrick Paul at pick 34, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Jordan Morgan all the way to the 68th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Spencer Rattler at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in Round 5, Pick 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Josh Proctor in No. 182 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Erick All come to them and pounced at the 224th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jase McClellan is a better player than pick 232 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
