Cleveland Browns

Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Washington Jr.: A-.

Future A+

The rest of the league will want that one back. Mike Washington Jr. tumbling to the Browns in the 112th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Halton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Caleb Lomu · OT · rank 28
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.28 · Pick 28 · Omar Cooper Jr. · WR · rank 35
In pick No. 28 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 38
Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 38 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Chris Johnson · CB · rank 33
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Chris Johnson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Kyle Louis · LB · rank 88
Kyle Louis in pick 92 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Gracen Halton · DL · rank 128
Gracen Halton at the 107th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Mike Washington Jr. · RB · rank 75
Mike Washington Jr. at slot 112 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.6 · Pick 146 · Kaytron Allen · RB · rank 149
Kaytron Allen at the 146th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.30 · Pick 170 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 158
Nice patience on Drew Allar, who had no business lasting to pick No. 170. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.25 · Pick 206 · Aaron Anderson · WR · rank 181
Taking Aaron Anderson in Round 6, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · John Michael Gyllenborg · TE · rank 241
Nothing to complain about; John Michael Gyllenborg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Zavion Thomas · WR · rank 235
Zavion Thomas slid further than he should have, and No. 248 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.41 · Pick 257 · Diego Pavia · QB · rank 254
Fair-plus on Diego Pavia, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
