They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on McClellan to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Clark lower, and that gap is the story.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in pick 44, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Braden Fiske at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Max Melton at slot 112, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nothing to complain about; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
De'Corian Clark at pick No. 190 is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Jase McClellan was the payoff at No. 234. A need, and now a little less of one.
