Start where it matters. The Raiders took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Landing Clark that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Xavier Worthy in pick No. 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Braden Fiske in pick 77, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nothing to complain about; Khyree Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Theo Johnson at the 150th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Christian Jones at the 203rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
De'Corian Clark in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in No. 234, with Blake Watson worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
