Start where it matters. The Raiders took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That Hart pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Byron Murphy II in pick No. 44, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at No. 77, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 12: Jacob Cowing for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Cam Hart higher than the 150th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Rasheen Ali at pick 190 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Matthew Jones in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
