The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Jones pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Henderson left real value on the table behind him.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Byron Murphy II in Round 2, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Brenden Rice in the 77th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Dominick Puni graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than LaDarius Henderson at pick 150, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Magee went about where he belonged in No. 190. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board fumbled Sheridan Jones all the way to pick No. 234, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
