The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Michael Penix Jr., and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Hart where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Michael Penix Jr. went about where he belonged in pick 10. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Byron Murphy II at the 44th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Malachi Corley at par in No. 77, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Dominick Puni in the 112th pick, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cam Hart in pick No. 150. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
