The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Anthony Gould, the No. 142 name on the board, in slot 208. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Everything downstream of Michael Penix Jr. depends on Michael Penix Jr., and the building knows it. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Reaching for Suamataia left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Michael Penix Jr. in slot 13 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kingsley Suamataia a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Jaylen Wright in slot 77, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; DJ James at No. 112 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Trevor Keegan in the 148th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Anthony Gould was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 33, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kamal Hadden in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Fabien Lovett in pick No. 229 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
