They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Hardy value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Byron Murphy II in pick 44, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Christian Haynes at par in the 77th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Max Melton in slot 112 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
De'Corian Clark at the 190th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Daequan Hardy at pick No. 234 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
