2024 NFL Draft
· 7 picks
· 1 steals
· 1 reaches
They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Henderson lower, and that gap is the story. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Watson.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Michael Penix Jr. at pick No. 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Kris Jenkins at par in pick 44, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Malachi Corley in slot 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Khyree Jackson at Round 4, Pick 12 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
LaDarius Henderson at the 150th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Fair-plus on JD Bertrand, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Blake Watson is a better player than No. 234 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
