The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Michael Penix Jr., and the whole operation now runs on his development. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Landing Corley that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
No edge and no loss on Kris Jenkins in pick No. 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Caelen Carson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 112th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Javion Cohen in pick 150 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a linebacker like Edefuan Ulofoshio reach Round 6, Pick 15 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jawhar Jordan at slot 234 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
