The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That McClellan pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in pick No. 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Braden Fiske at pick 77 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Max Melton in slot 112 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They liked LaDarius Henderson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in No. 234, where Jase McClellan graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
