The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Michael Penix Jr., and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Rosemy-Jacksaint falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick No. 44 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Max Melton in Round 3, Pick 13 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Zak Zinter at No. 112 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dillon Johnson in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was the payoff at slot 208. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Magee at pick 223 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 229th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
