There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Jawhar Jordan a full 77 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

They have staked the next five years on Michael Penix Jr., which is the only story that really matters here. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.

The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Mims pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
