The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Makai Lemon slide 91 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Lucas proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
They talked themselves into Anthony Lucas at No. 58, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Makai Lemon at slot 102 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Febechi Nwaiwu in the 127th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Ja'Kobi Lane was still sitting there in pick 133, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
