Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cardinals shredded theirs for Behren Morton. He came off 115 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.
The Virgil pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
If Max Iheanachor and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had cheaper options than A.J. Haulcy at the 34th overall pick, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Keyshaun Elliott at No. 104 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Skyler Gill-Howard in Round 5, Pick 3, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zane Durant slid further than he should have, and the 183rd pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Carver Willis this early at slot 187. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Behren Morton at pick No. 202, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Reggie Virgil reach the 217th pick and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
