When the story of this class is written, it opens with Le'Veon Moss at pick 112, a reach of 88 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hecht. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

So much rides on Caleb Downs that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · R Mason Thomas · DE-EDGE · rank 33
In the 12th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. Need was not the driver here.
R1.20 · Pick 20 · Caleb Downs · S · rank 1
A safety of that caliber at the Round 1 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Julian Neal · CB · rank 110
They talked themselves into Julian Neal at the 92nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Le'Veon Moss · RB · rank 200
Le'Veon Moss at No. 112 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
R5.12 · Pick 152 · Sam Hecht · C · rank 87
The board fumbled Sam Hecht all the way to Round 5, Pick 12, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.37 · Pick 177 · Kaleb Elarms-Orr · LB · rank 174
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kaleb Elarms-Orr in pick No. 177. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.40 · Pick 180 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 225
Xavier Nwankpa at slot 180 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Trey Zuhn III · OT · rank 239
Trey Zuhn III in No. 218 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
