The Dolphins torched the value chart for Drew Allar, taking him 65 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Moore. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
So much rides on Caleb Banks that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a wrecking ball inside, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 30 they get a rangy last line of defense, though the board says they badly overpaid. More want than need.
Value said wait; Austin Barber in the 75th overall pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Drew Allar this early at slot 87. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Darrell Jackson Jr. at par in the 90th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyreak Sapp in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Devin Moore in Round 4, Pick 30 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in pick 151: Jakobe Thomas for less than the market said. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A real head-scratcher, Jerry Wilson in the 238th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
