Nobody else had Kalil Alexander anywhere near the 178th overall pick. The Eagles did, by 110 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
On value alone, Scott makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
Carnell Tate slipping to the 23rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Romello Height at No. 68 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Keionte Scott in Round 3, Pick 34 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They jumped the gun on Keyron Crawford, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Quintayvious Hutchins in pick 153 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kalil Alexander in slot 178, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
