You could see the war room lean forward. Jalon Kilgore at slot 201 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
If Rutledge pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
T.J. Parker in pick 52 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value said wait; Keylan Rutledge in No. 84 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Logan Jones at the 85th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Gracen Halton at slot 120, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They did well to land Beau Stephens in the 160th pick, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Jalon Kilgore at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Nolan Rucci in Round 7, Pick 20, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Chase Roberts in pick No. 255, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
