You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Raiders did exactly that with Isaiah Jatta in slot 67. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Cisse. So much rides on Fernando Mendoza that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Hit on Fernando Mendoza and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Isaiah Jatta in the 67th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Jadon Canady at No. 117, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Jack Kelly in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Jonah Coleman at pick No. 147 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let an edge rusher like Jake Golday reach the 175th overall pick and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Brandon Cisse all the way to the 182nd pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DJ Harvey. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Fa'alili Fa'amoe in slot 219 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
