Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs won the night they stopped DeJean from sliding. Grade: C.

You build a draft on nights like this. Cooper DeJean had no business being available in the 64th pick, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

They will need Keegan to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Hit on Joe Alt and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 3
In pick 11 they get a cornerstone up front, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
The board fumbled Cooper DeJean all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 76
They robbed the room for Malachi Corley here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Leonard Taylor III · DL · rank 113
They liked Leonard Taylor III enough to skip the value, taking him in the 96th pick. It fills a real need, too.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 160
No edge and no loss on Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 161; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Trevor Keegan · OG · rank 251
They reached into another round for Trevor Keegan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
