Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Eagles came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Cowing falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Weaver to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in pick No. 41. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 43rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid sticker price for Jack Sawyer in Round 2, Pick 32, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Brian Thomas Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 85. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Blake Fisher in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
They took Cole Bishop at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 147 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malachi Moore at the 165th pick is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Will Shipley was the payoff at slot 178. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 6, Pick 14 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jacob Cowing at pick No. 206 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Carson Steele in the 223rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy bit of business in pick 226, where Willie Roberts graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Truss at the 249th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 33 with a little surplus value in Fentrell Cypress II. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
J.J. Weaver at pick 255 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
