Chicago Bears

The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-.

The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

Reaching for Cohen left real value on the table behind him. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Brock Bowers and all.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Brock Bowers · TE · rank 6
In slot 5 they get a mismatch in the passing game. Need was not the driver here.
R1.9 · Pick 9 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 10
In No. 9 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Kalen King · CB · rank 42
They paid sticker price for Kalen King in pick 37, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 71
Brenden Rice at pick No. 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Nelson Ceaser · DL-EDGE · rank 113
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nelson Ceaser. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 145
Javion Cohen at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.10 · Pick 146 · Zion Tupuola-Fetui · DE-EDGE · rank 165
Value said wait; Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the 146th pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
