Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent pick No. 91 on Mason McCormick, a name the board had a full 68 spots lower.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Morgan. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
So much rides on Tyler Nubin that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a two-high chess piece, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Jordan Morgan at slot 58 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Isaac Guerendo in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Mason McCormick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jarrian Jones at the 127th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wild overpay on Steele Chambers in slot 168, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They let Elijah Jones come to them and pounced at pick 204. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Tanner McLachlan in Round 6, Pick 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Garret Greenfield here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kimani Vidal at the 251st overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
