The Dolphins looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 1, Pick 21 regardless, 30 picks early. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
That Muasau pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Hit on Jackson Powers-Johnson and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 21 they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Kiran Amegadjie at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nehemiah Pritchett is a better player than the 158th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
By-the-book stuff, Josh Proctor at No. 186 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They took De'Corian Clark at par in the 199th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 242 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
