You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Eagles did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Ogbo Okoronkwo gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took T.J. Tampa at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 22. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in slot 55; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Trey Benson at the 97th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Jarrian Jones at pick 170 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 178, where Kamal Hadden graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jha'Quan Jackson slipping to Round 6, Pick 14 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
