Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The cost of the Brooks reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Ulofoshio pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Nice patience on Ennis Rakestraw Jr., who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Jonathon Brooks at pick 54 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; James Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Jaheim Bell in slot 142; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Joe Milton III went about where he belonged in the 163rd overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in the 172nd pick, with Edefuan Ulofoshio worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylan Ford. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jeremy Flax in Round 7, Pick 23. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Joshua Cephus is a better player than the Round 7 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
