The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Smith-Wade pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Corley.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 30 they get a centerfielder for the defense. A real need, handled.
Kris Jenkins at pick 50 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Zach Frazier in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Malachi Corley in the 93rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
MarShawn Lloyd at slot 127 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 14; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Zion Tupuola-Fetui at pick No. 160, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 170 with a little surplus value in LaDarius Henderson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Javon Baker in No. 171 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
