There is reaching, and then there is Vernon Broughton at Round 4, Pick 13. The Cardinals jumped the board by 43 and dared it to prove them wrong. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
On value alone, Lacy makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jihaad Campbell at No. 47 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They did well to land Omarr Norman-Lott in the 78th pick, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Vernon Broughton this early at pick No. 114. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kyren Lacy at pick 153 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
