Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
They will need Spears-Jennings to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
In the 31st overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 4, with Eli Stowers worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Logan Jones was still sitting there in slot 114, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They liked Kaleb Proctor enough to skip the value, taking him in the 125th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kaytron Allen at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Beau Stephens at No. 153 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kevin Coleman Jr. slipping to slot 176 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Keagen Trost at pick 178, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid a round early for Toriano Pride Jr. in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Bobby Jamison-Travis in pick No. 210, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Robert Spears-Jennings at Round 6, Pick 31 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
