There is conviction, and then there is this. The Eagles took De'Zhaun Stribling a full 34 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Reese at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter.
In slot 31 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A conviction pick on Eli Stowers at pick 38 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Germie Bernard was the payoff at the 68th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Logan Jones is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Mike Washington Jr. in pick No. 122 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bishop Fitzgerald in Round 4, Pick 25. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 137 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Beau Stephens at par in pick 153, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They jumped the gun on Zane Durant, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Aamil Wagner in No. 176, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
DJ Campbell at the 178th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid up for Toriano Pride Jr. at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
De'Zhaun Stribling at slot 215 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach for Jalon Daniels in slot 243; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
