The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
They are betting Bowry proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They banked enough surplus on Scott to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Chris Bell for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 58th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A clean, defensible pick in the 68th pick with a little surplus value in Eli Stowers. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Keionte Scott in Round 3, Pick 32, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached into another round for Jude Bowry, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Fair-plus on Jaeden Roberts, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Gracen Halton went about where he belonged in No. 137. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at the 151st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Pat Coogan at Round 5, Pick 41 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Bud Clark in the 201st overall pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kaelon Black. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
