You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Eagles did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
The Washington value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every board in the league had Milton III lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Kamari Lassiter in Round 2, Pick 6, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Jermaine Burton at par in No. 50, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where MarShawn Lloyd graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Beaux Limmer at pick No. 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Roger Rosengarten in slot 137; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Mohamed Kamara come to them and pounced at pick 141. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jared Wiley a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Tykee Smith at No. 161, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Marist Liufau at the 166th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They talked themselves into Delmar Glaze at the 171st overall pick, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to pick 180, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Curtis Jacobs at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Circle this one: Tahj Washington at slot 210 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Evan Williams in Round 6, Pick 43, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Garret Greenfield in Round 6, Pick 45. It fills a real need, too.
Kalen DeLoach in the 246th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
