The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Reaching for Velling left real value on the table behind him.
Getting McNeil-Warren where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A real need, handled.
Emmanuel Pregnon at Round 2, Pick 22 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value with a capital V on Elijah Sarratt in No. 62, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid up for Julian Neal at the 68th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a safety like Emmanuel McNeil-Warren reach the 85th pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Caden Curry in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Zachariah Branch in the 108th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Max Iheanachor at pick 137 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Treydan Stukes in the 151st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Bud Clark in pick No. 179, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Jalon Daniels, who had no business lasting to slot 201. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They went early on Jack Velling in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Dominic Zvada at par in Round 7, Pick 8, which is nothing to complain about. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
