Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Eagles did exactly that with Jalon Daniels in the 212th overall pick. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That Clark pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The veteran additions, Jalen Coker chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 40
A slide stopped in No. 51, with Emmanuel Pregnon worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 53
No drama and no debate, Eli Stowers went about where he belonged in pick 54. The roster fit checks out.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Jadarian Price · RB · rank 70
Jadarian Price is a better player than the 83rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.19 · Pick 119 · Bud Clark · S · rank 99
They will replay Bud Clark at slot 119 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Mikail Kamara · DE-EDGE · rank 149
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mikail Kamara this early at the Round 4 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Bryce Lance · WR · rank 122
They did well to land Bryce Lance in No. 125, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.37 · Pick 137 · Charles Demmings · CB · rank 145
Charles Demmings at slot 137 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.2 · Pick 142 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 134
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where J.C. Davis graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.13 · Pick 153 · Skyler Gill-Howard · DT · rank 146
A reasonable price with a little left over, Skyler Gill-Howard in pick 153. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.18 · Pick 158 · Kaleb Proctor · DL · rank 168
They paid up for Kaleb Proctor at Round 5, Pick 18 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.36 · Pick 176 · DJ Campbell · OG · rank 180
No edge and no loss on DJ Campbell in the 176th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.3 · Pick 184 · Pat Coogan · C · rank 195
Pat Coogan at the 184th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.31 · Pick 212 · Jalon Daniels · QB · rank 256
Jalon Daniels in pick No. 212 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.9 · Pick 225 · Jalen Huskey · S · rank 232
A straight-up fair deal on Jalen Huskey at pick 225, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
