Nobody had Charles Turner III this high, and it is not close. The Eagles reached 42 spots to get him at the Round 7 slot. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
Getting Milton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Hit on Quinyon Mitchell and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Javon Bullard in pick No. 50 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Xavier Worthy at par in the 53rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Jones a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Tykee Smith in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid a round early for Khristian Boyd in Round 5, Pick 25, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, AJ Barner at pick No. 171 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Curtis Jacobs slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 35 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Steal is underselling it; Kendall Milton at slot 225 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyrice Knight at the Round 7 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Charles Turner III at the 253rd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
