The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
They will need Stephens to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Stowers steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
They paid sticker price for Emmanuel Pregnon in the 32nd overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Eli Stowers in pick No. 96, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Logan Jones in No. 98. The roster fit checks out.
De'Zhaun Stribling in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Mikail Kamara, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Beau Stephens at pick 141 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Charles Demmings at Round 5, Pick 13 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Tanner Koziol. It fills a real need, too.
Keagen Trost in pick No. 178 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
DJ Campbell at the 188th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Terion Stewart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Huskey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Jalon Daniels in the 257th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
