Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Stephens pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Price.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Christen Miller in slot 54, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Eli Stowers at No. 63 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A quiet steal in pick No. 68: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Jadarian Price here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Bryce Lance at the 114th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Trey Zuhn III in the 125th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Beau Stephens in Round 4, Pick 37 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid up for Charles Demmings at pick 141 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Skyler Gill-Howard at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They went early on Kevin Coleman Jr. in slot 153, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Matt Gulbin. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Aamil Wagner in pick No. 189 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Kobe Baynes at No. 197 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had cheaper options than Toriano Pride Jr. at the 198th overall pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Riley Nowakowski at No. 221 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Robert Spears-Jennings in Round 7, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
