Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Eagles spent pick 137 on Beau Stephens, a name the board had a full 24 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, Bell at that price is a win they earned.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Bell at slot 54 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Eli Stowers at the 68th pick is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Zakee Wheatley at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Kaleb Proctor in the 114th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Beau Stephens in Round 4, Pick 37, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Keagen Trost in pick No. 178; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Cole Payton in Round 6, Pick 16, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
