The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Washington that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 54. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonathon Brooks. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Gabriel Murphy in No. 78 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Marist Liufau at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Mike Sainristil slipping to pick 97 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 36 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Blake Fisher come to them and pounced at No. 109. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a wide receiver like Malik Washington reach slot 137 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Cam Hart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Jaheim Bell went about where he belonged in pick No. 142. It fills a real need, too.
Joe Milton III at the 163rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Fair-plus on Zion Tupuola-Fetui, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Layden Robinson in the 178th overall pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Curtis Jacobs at Round 6, Pick 6 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Roger Rosengarten in the 183rd pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Emani Bailey at par in No. 189, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sheridan Jones at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
