Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Eagles came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The veteran additions, CeeDee Lamb chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. Mesidor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Eli Stowers in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kamari Ramsey at pick No. 98 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Logan Jones all the way to slot 116, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They went early on Charles Demmings in No. 137, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Skyler Gill-Howard in Round 5, Pick 8 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Beau Stephens higher than pick No. 169, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nice patience on Kevin Coleman Jr., who had no business lasting to No. 178. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on J'Mari Taylor in the 188th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A slide stopped in slot 195, with Keagen Trost worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cole Payton. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Justin Jefferson at par in pick 210, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
