The Eagles went off the board in a big way for Kendall Milton, 35 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper at the 50th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Xavier Legette at pick No. 53 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 20; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had Tykee Smith higher than pick 161, and the safety fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, AJ Barner in No. 171. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A conviction pick on Khristian Boyd at slot 172 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Kendall Milton in the 210th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
