The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Jackson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That Trice pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In slot 27 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Bralen Trice graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jonathon Brooks slipping to No. 70 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cooper Beebe in pick No. 82. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Sedrick Van Pran in the 90th overall pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for Khyree Jackson at Round 3, Pick 34 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Washington in pick 117 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Fair-plus on James Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Joe Milton III in No. 163 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chau Smith-Wade in the Round 5 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Javon Baker at the 178th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kimani Vidal. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Brevyn Spann-Ford, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 15. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Trevor Keegan in pick No. 243, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
