The Eagles went off the board in a big way for Javon Baker, 43 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Hit on Bralen Trice and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
Bralen Trice slipping to No. 50 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in pick 54, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Bucky Irving at the 97th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
They talked themselves into Javon Baker at slot 137, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Fair-plus on Luke McCaffrey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Jarrian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Braelon Allen in the Round 5 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nathan Thomas at No. 172 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Curtis Jacobs went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 3. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Matthew Jones in the 229th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had cheaper options than Aaron Frost at slot 233, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kurtis Rourke. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reach on Xavier Thomas in the 247th overall pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
