Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Dolphins were there to profit. Barrett Carter, the No. 83 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 133. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting White III proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
A tight end of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 16 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at pick 98 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quinshon Judkins at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Barrett Carter at the 133rd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to pick No. 149, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ricky White III well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
