When a board-topper like Caedan Wallace slides to the Round 7 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Milton III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid a round early for Cooper Beebe in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braden Fiske. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 91st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Kalen King was still sitting there in pick No. 158, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach for Joe Milton III in No. 184; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in slot 198, where Johnny Dixon graded well above the range. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Caedan Wallace in Round 7, Pick 21, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
