The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Brandon Cisse, the 230th pick, roughly 194 picks past where he belonged. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a franchise quarterback, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taking Mansoor Delane in slot 53 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Carnell Tate at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Spencer Fano still on the board at the 85th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board fumbled David Bailey all the way to pick 99, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tight end of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 21 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jordyn Tyson at No. 135 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let a cornerback like Jermod McCoy reach pick No. 161 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at slot 216 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Ja'Kobi Lane in the 224th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Brandon Cisse at slot 230 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Chase Bisontis here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
